STANFORD, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 15, 2022) - Richard H. Davis, President and CEO of KELCO, states that his company intends to produce and market a “BREWZA'' line of seaweed-based coffee alternatives. BREWZA KELP KOFFEE is made from roasted giant kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera), and red seaweed (Asparagopsis taxiformis), along with natural flavors and caffeine. BREWZA KELP KOFFEE is a specially developed instant powdered beverage designed to energize and refuel your body and stimulate your brain’s power of concentration. It’s not recommended for children, diabetes and persons sensitive to caffeine. Davis invented the seaweed-based coffee alternative while working on a way to reuse or recycle coffee grounds into decaffeinated coffee.
“Giant kelp (Macrocystis pyrifera) provides the essential structure for an ecosystem that harbors an amazing diversity of organisms. From an ecological standpoint, giant kelp is comparable to framework-building corals on tropical reefs,” said Robin Elahi, a lecturer at Stanford University’s Hopkins Marine Station. “There’s an intrinsic value to the biodiversity of kelp forests, but there is also a social and economic importance associated with these striking ecosystems.”
